Concrete Slab
The brief was to make a concrete slab as thin as possible using a mold made from fabric. Three models were made to test for a suitable solution, plaster was used initially because it sets quicker but gives an inclination as to how concrete will react in a simliar mold.
Model One
Model 2
Model 3
The final piece used material cut on the bias to minimise lateral stretch in the material from the weight of the concrete. The concrete mold was suspended from a wooden frame by cabel ties. Points to tighten the mold once filled with concrete were made across the mold's service using cable ties. The following is a slide show deminstrating the process.
